Terms of Use

Last updated: October 5, 2026

These Terms of Use apply to your use of Calligraphy for Beginners (“the site”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What the site provides

The site publishes free tutorials, practice guides and tool guides about calligraphy for general information and personal enjoyment. We work to keep the instructions clear and accurate, but we do not promise that every tutorial is free of errors or that you will get a particular result by following it. Pens, nibs, inks and papers behave differently from one another, so the angles, sizes and session times in the tutorials are starting points to adjust to your own tools.

General information and your own risk

Practice advice on the site is general information. Suggestions about grip, posture and how long to practice describe common options; they are not medical advice and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation. If writing causes pain, stop.

Calligraphy uses sharp nibs and inks that stain. You are responsible for handling nibs, inks and cleaning products safely, for following the instructions and warnings on their labels, for protecting your work surface and clothing, and for keeping these materials out of the reach of children and pets. The tutorials are written for adults, and you follow them at your own risk.

Using our content

Unless stated otherwise, the text, illustrations and design of the site belong to Calligraphy for Beginners. You are welcome to:

  • read, print and use the tutorials for personal, classroom, library or other non-commercial purposes;
  • practice any stroke, letter or layout shown here and use what you write however you like;
  • share a link to any page;
  • quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back to the original page.

Please do not republish whole tutorials or illustrations, sell them, or present them as your own work without written permission.

Traditional scripts, basic strokes and letter shapes are not anyone’s property, and anyone is free to write them. Our rights relate to our own written instructions and illustrations, not to the general ideas behind them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site. This includes attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with how the site works, sending spam or unlawful content through the contact form, or copying the site in bulk by automated means beyond what is needed for normal search engine indexing.

The site links to a small number of third-party reference pages that we think are useful. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Calligraphy for Beginners is not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of the site, from following its tutorials or from using the tools and materials they describe. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how information is handled when you use the site.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
